YOU DID IT!

500 Viewers!

It's time for a give away! The lucky winner of the pin cushion is Liz, for commenting on the 500th viewer mark. Congratulations!
I have decided that for every 500 views I will have a give away that pertains to my favorite things for the senses. This first one is sight. I love to see happy families and nurturing parents. I love to see children in heirloom clothes looking like angels. I love the thought of a romp in a garden on a sunny Sunday afternoon. So this giveaway reflects that to me.
I will be giving away a handmade 16 inch baby doll, dressed in heirloom style clothes but easy for a little hands to play with. Made in the style of Waldorf, it is made of a cotton Lycra knit body and stuffed with an eco-friendly fiber derived form the corn plant. The hair is wool and the face is stitched in cotton threads. The hair will be twisted into a front curl for a boy or a ribbon pony tail for a girl. Here is a picture of my daughters doll, with a sculpted and acrylic painted face. I will make a custom doll for the winner, either with the painted face for age 7 and up, or simple needle sculpted sewn face for 1 and up. The doll will have it's own set of clothes and a cloth diaper. The doll can wear real infant clothes, so even if you don't have a little one to share with, you can dress it to keep as a collectible.
And for the entire family's enjoyment, I will also send a bouquet of flowers FTD to grace your home! The contest runs until April 30 2009

Don't forget 500!

I've been busy at getting ready for the giveaway, just need you all to help reach that magic number! Here's a sneak peak at the prize, it's young girl related, but could be boy as well. Can't wait to see that number reach 500 ! (wink wink, nudge nudge)
I received my business cards in the mail today, I'm very excited to pass them out. And DD asked for her own set. So today I ordered some for her with a pretty butterfly and just her name on it and our Etsy address for her birthday.

I've been busy on the sewing machine, my serger is also headed to the shop for a tune up. But I finished this tunic which is a shortened version of the Dress for Dolly, and my own design of lined Capri for DD. Their design is the result of me being distracted when I did the math for the measurements, but as you can see, all turned out well!

I also thought I would share with you these beautiful felt barrettes, loving how easy they are to make, even easier than ribbon covered. I think I will let DD have a go at some of these. I'm wondering if scrap book grommets would work on these, since the ends would be covered....Hmmmmmm

#500

So here's the cliff hanger... I will post a giveaway when my blogcounter reaches 500! So if you are viewing the blog, and see the number 500, post a comment that also lets me contact you, and I will send you a flower pincushion! That will set off a chain of events, the official opening of Etsy's "ThatsFineandFancy" and my first blog giveaway of some of my favorite things! There is a lot to be excited about, so keep checking back to see if you are number 500!

Easter Weekend

What a beautiful weekend for a holiday! We spent the morning at the local toy store petting rabbits and ducks and goats. Took a swing by the fabric store to pick there brains about my sewing machine and then came home to sew a few belts and hair accessories for the Etsy store. DD is sporting a one of the new belts and hair bows as she feeds the goats! We are looking forward to Sunday morning as we rejoice in the resurrection of our Lord. The children are in an Easter play with their Sunday school friends and have diligently memorized their lines. I'm so excited to see them on stage!

Pattern Central Station

It's been a long day and it's barely 4 pm. We had a lovely Good Friday service at the beach church today, where I successfully sang a solo. It's a lengthy drive and the warm sun through the van windows makes for a sleepy family!

DD is so excited about starting up a store on Etsy though, so instead of napping with the boys this afternoon, I spent it drafting patterns at the kitchen table. I have noticed that the average toddler pair of pants has belt loops, but try finding a belt to match! So DD and I have designed two belts, a buckle style and a doo-rag tie on style that even sports a pocket to hold toddlers treasures! In the process of cutting out pratice pieces we discovered that the sash belt when too short makes a very pleasant headband or neck tie scarf! So keep your eyes open for some interesting creations from us

Dropping in to say Hi!

I really am still here. Life has become a little more complicated and confusing, but not worrisome. I am busy making inventory and making list, lists and more lists! I have set up my computer to be a one man band business tool, and am trying to get the rest of my ducks in a row!
To commemorate the official opening of my Etsy shop, look in the near future for a blog give away!!! Here's a hint...."Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes....!"
DD has been a delightful help in setting up this venture, and I look forward to her continued "partnership". She's looking forward to a bigger allowance!!

I'm on ETSY!

I've been missing for a few days, as I have been enjoying some good weather and searching my way through the entire Etsy site to start up a store. SO much to do! I'm still trying to work out shipping costs, but it's going t require a run to the post office to get some straight answers. Very excited, but very worn out! Here's a quick to my shop! CTM
